Protein Supplements - Yes or No?! Hanukkah Challenge
Protein powders - yes or no?
The protein powder market is developing and advancing rapidly... Many people start training and immediately add a scoop of protein to their diet. But is it even necessary?
Keep in mind that protein powders (and protein bars too) are highly processed, with lots of additives such as stabilizers, emulsifiers, preservatives, and more (depending on the product). For that reason, I usually do not recommend these supplements.
So who would I still recommend them to? An intense trainee who cannot manage to eat the recommended daily amount of protein (around 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight); a very busy person who cannot prepare a meal after a workout (you do not have to eat right away); and someone who eats only a few meals a day, since the protein intake should be spread throughout the day and not concentrated in just one or two meals.
So in the end, whether to use protein powder depends on your goal and your daily schedule.
