How to Build a Nutritious Salad That Counts as a Full Meal? Hanukkah Challenge

A salad is not just a side dish; it can be a nutritious and easy-to-make meal if you know how to build it right.

Many of us want a salad meal at lunch to feel less heavy and get on with the day... but how should you build a balanced salad?

Let's start with vegetables: make sure you have a variety of vegetables (preferably a range of colors) - choose at least 3 or 4 vegetables.

Add protein: egg, tuna, chicken breast, tofu, or Bulgarian cheese.

Add a complex carbohydrate: 3-4 tablespoons (you can use more) of bulgur, quinoa, lentils, chickpeas, sweet potato, or whole wheat pasta.

Pay attention to the dressing - always prefer dressings with no added sugar, based on olive oil or tahini. Remember that the dressing can spike the calorie count of the salad. Add a dressing that is tasty, of course, but use it in moderation 😊
